Guest Accounts

What is a guest account?

Guest accounts are temporary accounts will automatically self-destruct at the end of the day. They are perfect for granting temporary access to school division computers or wireless networks, for parents, presenters, and other guests who don't already have an account in our system.

Guest accounts are given a random password when they are activated.

Who can create guest accounts?

At this time, creating guest accounts is limited to:

  • School Secretaries
  • School Librarians
  • School Principals & Vice Principals
  • Help Desk / ICS Staff


How do I make a guest account?

Guest accounts can be created by visiting https://guest.lskysd.ca in your web browser, and logging in using your LSKYSD username & password.

What can I do with guest accounts?

  • Guest accounts can log into any (Windows-based) school division computer
  • Guest accounts can be used to access to Living Sky Public WebAuth wireless network

Do guest accounts have access to division email?

No.

Do guest accounts have access to Google Apps for Education / G-Suite / Google Classroom?

No.

Do guest accounts have access to Office 365 / Onedrive?

No.

Can guest accounts be used to circumvent the content filter?

No.

Do guest accounts have access to shares (public/private/handin/handout), or a Z: drive?

No.


How many guest accounts can I make? Can I make enough for my class?

You can create up to 3 guest accounts in a single day.

Guest accounts are not intended for student use - students have their own accounts


Can I use a guest account for more than a day?

No. Guest accounts are reset at the end of the day (at midnight), with no exceptions. If you require a guest account for more than a day, you will have to activate one each day. The username will likely change each time.


Can I change the password for a guest account?

You can log into a school division computer, and change the password like you would any user:

  • On the desktop, press CTRL+ALT+DEL
  • Select "Change a password"
  • Enter the old password
  • Enter your new password twice, and push enter (or click the "right arrow" button)


Guest accounts do not show up in the student password reset tool.

What if I've forgotten the password to a guest account?

If you've forgotten or lost the password to a guest account, the easiest solution is to create a new one.

There is no way for you to reset a guest password unless you know the old password.

The Help Desk is able to reset guest account passwords, if you are unable to create any more guest accounts.



Can I create a guest account without entering a reason?

Yes, the "Reason" field is optional.

We ask for a reason so we can better understand how and where the guest accounts are being used.


Can a guest account print?

Presently, no. We can allow the option to print on a school by school basis, and we can limit it to only specific printers. If you'd like a guest account to be able to print, please let us know by creating a Help Desk ticket.


How can I use a guest account to connect to school Wifi?

  • Connect to the Living Sky Public WebAuth wireless network on your device
  • Open a web browser, and try to go to a website such as http://google.com
  • You will be prompted for a username and password
  • Log in using the username and password you see above
